Recently Microsoft has released an Emergency update for Windows 11 devices. After updation, many users has reported that the device now is unable to shutdown. This emergency update is brought to fix some critical bugs raised because of Jan 2026 Windows security update. This new “out-of-band” update has fixed Windows 11 issues in which when user try to shutdown or hibernate the device, the device restarts. With this new update, the Windows 11 and Windows 10 regains the ability to login remotely to the devices.
As per the report submitted by windowslatest, January 2026 update brought many issues like screen blackout, crashing Outlook classic and much more. In October 2025, an emergency fix has been issued by Microsoft for Windows 11 which was related to Windows Recovery Environment.
As per Microsoft, the inability to shut down or hibernate the device is because of a security feature called “Secure Launch” which protects the device from firmware level attacks. When it comes to remote connection issue, when users try to login to Windows 10 and 11 devices remotely the credential prompt failures is the biggest reason behind it.
